Kelly Eckenrode is the founder of Modern Yesterdays, a vibrant store in Gibsonia dedicated to repurposing and selling beautifully painted furniture, homemade gifts and art supplies. After many years in education in the Pittsburgh area, Kelly turned her passion for furniture refurbishing into a business in 2017. Painting and repurposing furniture was her creative outlet after long days in the classroom, and it became a way to relieve stress and express herself.

At Modern Yesterdays, Kelly not only offers a curated selection of unique, upcycled pieces but also provides supplies and inspiration for fellow artisans. Growing up in the North Hills, she is thrilled to have opened her store in a location that is convenient for customers and close to home.

Kelly’s mission is to foster creativity in her community, helping others discover the joy of transforming old into new. At Modern Yesterdays, you’ll find a welcoming space where the charm of the past meets modern design, all curated by someone who believes in the beauty of creativity.
